Tuned Circuit - Calculator:
Frequency and Reactance from
Inductance and Capacitance

(and vice versa)

Inductive Reactance   X = 2πFL
Capacitive Reactance Xc = 1 / 2πFC
Resonant Frequency   Fo = 1 / 2π√LC

Mouseover for formula derivation:

LC tuned circuit resonance is defined as the frequency where:
Capacitive and Inductive reactance's are both equal i.e. Xc = X
The calculator returns X and F given L and C
and also calculates L and C given X and F
or any 2 unknowns from any 2 given inputs!
For a parallel (or series) LC resonant circuit:-
enter any two known values and click to solve for the others.
For example, a 100pF capacitor with a 5 μH inductor will have
a resonant frequency of 7.118 MHz and each a reactance of 223.6 Ω

Capacitance
(picofarads)
Inductance
(microhenrys)
Reactance
(Ohms)
Frequency
(MegaHertz)
fields to zero before doing another calculation.

In previous times we would have been using a L C F nomogram (below) to acheive the same ends!
