Here is a valve (electron tube) based Cascode RF pre-amplifier. The circuit design is basically from Shortwave Cascode Preselector (WU2D) I have utilized the same circuit as referenced, but with the following changes: A 6n16b small wire ended Soviet twin-triode is used (see spec's below) To make the unit portable a 5 cell Ni-cad batery is used as a power source. 5 series'd Sub-C cells 2,200mAH capacity. The nominal 6 volt battery supplies both the valve filament and also a DC-DC inverter which is needed to supply 220V for the valve anode circuit.
